Subhanallah, Allah bestows His mercy on whom He wills. Below is the video of a mentally challenged brother who knows nothing but the Qur’aan. He is said not to have the ability to wear his shirt if he takes it off. He is questioned several times about when he memorized the qur’aan, how old he was at the time, where he memorized but he kept repeating one phrase “Al Qur’aan Haafidh”. When asked any questions related to the ayah numbers, surah name, page number, the similar ayahs in the qur’aan, he answers the questions with precision. Ma shaa Allah laa quwwata illaa billaah.
It is amazing how he is not able to answer the questions he is asked properly but the minute he hears a verse or a part of a verse as if you hit the play button in his mind and he starts reciting.
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ. سورة الحِجر

Last year, Dubai International Qur’aan Competition did a special session with this Haafidh. He was asked from 3 different kinds of questions:
- Questions about hifdh/memorization (read from ….)
- Questions about surah names, ayah number, page number etc.
- Questions about Mutashaabihaat (similar verses/words) which is the difficult thing for the huffaadh.

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
“And We have certainly made the Qur’aan easy to understand & remember, so is there any who will remember? [soorah Al-Qamar, v:17]
may Allah grant us strong memorization of His Book. Aameen.
